Underwear and swimwear fit in cssbuy spreadsheet

Close-fitting garments leave very little room for error. This guide covers the measurements, fabric details and policy points to check for underwear and swimwear, in a neutral and practical way, so a shortlist is based on information rather than hope.

Folded swimwear and cotton basics on a light linen surface
Fabric and fit matter more here than almost anywhere else.

Why these categories are different

A jacket that is a little large still works. Underwear and swimwear do not forgive that, because the garment is meant to sit close to the body, and because hygiene rules often limit what can be returned. That makes information gathering before you buy more important in the underwear and swimwear category.

Fabric: stretch, recovery and drying

  • Elastane blends stretch and recover, which helps with fit but can wear out after repeated sun, salt or chlorine.
  • Cotton basics are soft and breathable, though they dry slowly.
  • Quick-dry synthetics suit a beach or pool day and travel well.

Copy the seller's fabric wording into your sheet. If a lining is listed, note it too, since linings affect both comfort and coverage.

Care instructions

Swimwear usually asks for a cool rinse and a shade dry, and often says not to wring or tumble. If the listing shows care symbols, record them. A garment that needs more care than you are willing to give is a poor fit for your routine, however well it fits your body.

After-sales conditions: read them twice

Hygiene rules often limit exchanges or returns for these categories, and conditions can vary. Read the terms on the live page and note anything that mentions opened items, hygiene seals or tags. This guide cannot state the rules for you, because they belong to the seller and may change.

Be practical. If the listing does not give measurements or care details, ask before you buy rather than guessing a size.

Close-fit checklist

For each candidate

  1. Compare measurements with a garment that already fits well, using the method in the clothing measurements guide.
  2. Copy the fabric and lining wording.
  3. Write down the care instructions shown.
  4. Read the after-sales terms for this category.
  5. Check the photos for the seams, the lining and the label.
  6. Add an AUD ceiling before you decide.

Where to go next

Many fit principles carry over from other garments, so read clothing measurements to check as a foundation. You can also return to the cssbuy spreadsheet home page to browse a category.
